Sammy Omari serves as executive director, Advanced Driver Assist System Technologies (ADAS), Ford Motor Company and CEO of Latitude AI, a Ford subsidiary.
He leads a team focused on delivering cost-effective ADAS products on a global scale that provide advancements designed to make driving less stressful and more enjoyable and, in the future, give consumers back their most valuable commodity – time. This includes advancing Ford BlueCruise hands-free, eyes-on-road technology even further as a core ADAS feature and stepping stone to upcoming Level 3 ADAS eyes-off-road systems.
As CEO of Latitude AI, he oversees a team of machine learning, robotics, software, sensors, systems engineering and operations talent developing new automated driving technology with an initial focus on a hands-free, eyes-off driver assist system for next-generation Ford vehicles
He comes to Ford from Motional, where he served as vice president of Engineering and head of Autonomy, Systems and Mapping. Motional is an Aptiv-Hyundai $4 billion joint venture aimed at commercializing Level 4 autonomous vehicles. Previously, Omari was in Autonomy, Robotics and Machine Learning leadership roles at Lyft and GoPro. He also was CTO and co-founder of the robotics startup Skybotix, which was acquired by GoPro.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Australian National University and his master’s and doctorate degrees from ETH Zurich.
Omari was born in Switzerland and now lives in Pittsburgh with his wife Isabelle and their three boys, ages 1, 4 and 6 years old.
