Ford’s highly successful EcoSport range has been bolstered with the addition of a new special edition model – the EcoSport Active. As one of the most popular vehicles in the rapidly growing mini sport utility vehicle (SUV) segment, the introduction of the EcoSport Active adds a greater dose of distinctive style and a more rugged appearance to the local EcoSport line-up.

World Book Day was created by UNESCO on 23rd April 1995 as a worldwide celebration of books and reading. It is marked in over 100 countries around the globe. Shelby South Africa is applying the finishing touches to a bespoke Shelby Speedster with the first South African customer expected to take delivery this month. The Shelby Speedster represents the pinnacle of exclusivity for the Shelby brand with production limited to 98 units for the American market and 25 units for other markets - including three Shelby Speedsters set to arrive in South Africa.

Ford’s Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria, which produces the Ranger pickup for domestic sales and exports to over 100 global markets, has flipped the switch and is now sourcing 35 percent of its electricity completely emissions-free, directly from the sun. This pioneering project is the result of a long-term power purchase agreement with SolarAfrica, with the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) carports for 3 610 vehicles at the Silverton plant.

Ford Fund, the philanthropic arm of the company, and GlobalGiving, its international grant-making partner, have been working with independent gamers from Ford’s Team Fordzilla esports team. The racers feature in a new video to promote the fund’s Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) programme, where they test out three special suits designed to replicate the effects of drinking and sleepiness, to safely find out just how badly their driving is affected.

To help with relief efforts, The Ford Motor Company Fund has provided a $25 000 (R370 000) disaster relief grant to the aid organisation Gift of the Givers to assist communities worst-hit by the floods.
