Parkmobile App to Add Ford SYNC AppLink Compatibility So Drivers Can Pay for Parking On the Go

  • Using Ford SYNC® AppLink, Parkmobile users will soon be able to pay for a parking spot right as they’re pulling into the space
  • Parkmobile app offers drivers an easier way to access parking using simple voice commands and a preregistered credit or debit card number

Parkmobile, a leading provider of services that enable users to pay for parking from their smartphones, has announced its app will soon be compatible with the Ford SYNC® in-car connectivity system. Using the SYNC AppLink interface, drivers will be able to pay for a parking space with an on-file credit or debit card, eliminating the need to touch their mobile phone while driving.

“Parkmobile simplifies the parking experience by eliminating the need to swipe a card or feed coins to a meter,” said Cherie Fuzzell, CEO, Parkmobile. “We are excited to extend the Parkmobile offering to the connected car through our collaboration with Ford SYNC AppLink.

“Parkmobile looks forward to working with Ford to offer drivers a more robust means of driving and parking,” Fuzzell added.

Parkmobile uses Ford’s advanced voice recognition system and SYNC AppLink interface to provide drivers with a convenient and secure method of paying for parking from the comfort of their vehicle. App users will no longer have to fumble around for change or stand around feeding a meter. Drivers can activate the Parkmobile app installed on an Android-based or iOS smartphone paired to SYNC by pressing the SYNC voice button on the steering wheel, then following voice prompts or directions from the in-vehicle display to pay for parking with a payment method already on file.

While it varies from location to location, in some cases drivers can receive a reminder to their smartphone 15 minutes prior to the expiration of their parking session, enabling them to remotely extend their parking session if they have not exceeded the maximum allowed time.

“The great thing about Parkmobile is that it takes something every driver does and uses a new technology to do it in an easier fashion,” said Julius Marchwicki, global product manager for Ford SYNC AppLink. “This innovative idea by Parkmobile enables drivers to pay for parking from the comfort of their own vehicle.”

SYNC AppLink is available on more than 1.5 million Ford vehicles including Fiesta, Mustang, Edge, Explorer, Flex, Expedition, Transit Connect, Fusion, Taurus, F-150, Super Duty, Focus, E-Series and C-MAX hybrids.

Parkmobile, for Android devices, is now compatible with Ford SYNC AppLink. The app for iPhone will soon follow. To download Parkmobile, visit http://us.parkmobile.com/members/members-mobile-apps/.
