Soundbites: March 2015 Sales

Ford Motor Company posted its best U.S. retail sales in nine years, driven by strong demand for its new products, including F-Series, Mustang and Transit.

Here to explain is Ford sales analyst, Erick Merkle.

Cut#1 “F-Series really supported our best retail sales month, in nine years, for the month of March.  It’s retail sales were up 10 percent and this is really a refelection of how quickly they’re moving on dealer lots  at 18 days to turn in the month of March.” :15 sec.

Another major sales increase took place with Mustang.  Merkle says over 12,600 cars posted a 36 percent increase.  He went on to say, the momentum continues to build.

Cut#2 “No slowing down, especially when you start taking a look at the West Coast, you look at California it was up 123 percent and the West Coast overall was up 98 percent we almost double our retail sales on the West Coast.” :13 sec.

Transit, along with Transit Connect and E-Series provided a 42 percent increase in total Ford van sales with over 20,800 vehicles sold in the month of March.

Cut#3 “So Transit, along with Transit Connect and E-Series had just a spectacular month in terms of our commercial van sales.  Sales totaled 20,821 vehicles, that was a 42 percent increase and that March  represents our best March van sales,  for commercial vans going all the way back to1994.”: 22 sec.

According to Merkle, Ford sells all the Explorers they make and in the month of March sales hit 20,765, which marks the best sales month in 10 years.

Cut #4 “We find room and are able to produce more Explorers, we of course are able to sell more Explorers.  So Explorer sales were up 17 percent, with sales of 20,765 and this gives us our best March Explorer sales peformance since 2005.” :19 sec.

Lincoln is center stage this week at the New York Auto show,  and it also showing no signs of slowing down as retail sales rose 7 percent versus a year ago.

Cut#5 “And for the first quarter retail sales at Lincoln were up 10 percent. A lot of that is being driven from our new products, like the MKC which last month sold over 2000 vehicles and also the new Lincoln Navigator which was launched last fall, it had a 47 percent increase in March.” :19 sec.
