DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 24, 2015 – Ford Motor Company announced today its popular high school fundraising program – Drive 4 UR School – will collaborate with the rock band Foreigner to create and host special choir fundraisers in select states. The initiative, Rock Then Roll 4 UR School, will take place in tandem with Foreigner concerts this October.
“We are delighted to partner with such an iconic and influential band like Foreigner to provide support and visibility for high school choir programs,” said Tracy Magee, Ford experiential marketing manager. “Rock Then Roll 4 UR School is a unique iteration of our popular Drive 4 UR School and Drive 4 UR Community fundraising programs, and we’re hopeful it will inspire local communities to support students and their passion for music.”
How it works
In select concert cities, high school choirs will have the opportunity to submit a video clip of their choir performing the classic Foreigner song “I Want to Know What Love Is” for the chance to go on to perform the song on stage with the band at a Foreigner concert. Choir members will also have the opportunity to rehearse for the performance with a Foreigner band member at a local Ford dealership and host a Drive 4 UR School event to raise up to $6,000 for their music program. In addition, Ford will match Foreigner with a $500 donation to the choir.

About the JDRF concert
Also taking place today is a private fundraiser and acoustic concert hosted by Edsel Ford at Ford Motor Company Conference and Event Center to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The event will feature a performance by Foreigner, and will be recorded and released by Sony in 2016.
MOSAIC, a choir made up of high school students from Detroit and the surrounding area, will perform live at a pre-show reception, then join Foreigner on stage to perform the song “I Want to Know What Love Is” during the evening’s main event.
Foreigner will donate royalties from the recording to JDRF.
About Foreigner’s work with high school choirs
Foreigner began a choir promotion to engage with high school choirs nationwide in 2012. Since then, more than 225 high schools have embraced the band’s program, which has touched the lives of close to 6,000 students, their parents and teachers. In the last three years, Foreigner has donated more than $200,000 directly to high schools and to the GRAMMY Foundation.
About Ford’s Drive 4 UR School program
Now in its eighth year, Ford’s Drive 4 UR School has raised more than $25 million for high schools across the United States, empowering students by providing much-needed funding for extracurricular athletic and educational activities. High schools team up with Ford dealerships to organize Drive 4 UR School events, with the dealerships providing the vehicles and the schools organizing and promoting the events. For each valid test drive conducted during the fundraiser, Ford donates $20 to the school – up to $6,000.
