Soundbites: October 2015 Sales

Ford Motor Company U.S. sales totaled 213,938 vehicles last month, up 13 percent from a year ago. Retail sales results were up 13 percent with 154,036 vehicles sold – for the company’s best October sales performance since 2004.  Here to explain is Ford Sales Analyst, Erich Merkle.

Cut#1 “Cars were up eight percent and both trucks  and SUV’s were up 15 percent.   We also had a record average transaction price for the month of October, at $34,600  dollars per vehicle,  that’s up about $1,800 dollars from a year ago.”  :16 sec.

Turning our attention to trucks, Merkle said the F-series sales were outstanding.

Cut#2 “The F-Series did great.   In fact if we take a look at F-series,  at retail we were up 12 percent and this really drove our overall F-Series  sales to be up 3 percent which was our best October F-series sales results since 2004.” :15 sec.

Ford’s commercial van sales are also doing very well, according to Merkle.

Cut#3 “If you take a look at Transit and you take a look at our overall commercial van portfolio.  Our overall vans were up 75 percent in October, giving us our best October Van performance since 1988.” :12 sec.

Both Explorer and Edge continue to sell well in the SUV segment.

Cut#4 ”If we take a look at SUV’s it was another very  impressive month for Ford brand SUV’s, it was up 12 percent with 60,786 of them sold, and that was driven by our newest products. Products like Explorer which saw a 30 percent gain, Edge which had a 39 percent gain, and these products are actually driving our average transaction prices, they’re driving the  quality of our sales, which was the best since 2004.”:27 sec.

Car sales did well too, especially Mustang and Fusion.

Cut#5 “October they were up 17 percent, Mustang of course had a big gain, 121 percent increase with just over 10-thousand vehicles sold and Fusion posted its best October sales result ever with sales 23,668 vehicles.” :19 sec.

The all-new Lincoln MKX posted its best-ever October sales results with 2,189 SUVs sold, a 10 percent overall gain for the month.

Cut#6 “ MKX is really hot right now and we’re seeing that perform very well and it’s very encouraging, because that is our latest and newest Lincoln product out there.”:11 sec.
