Sound Bites: April 2016 Sales

Ford Motor Company’s U.S. sales increased 4 percent in April versus a year ago, driving the company’s best April retail results in ten years.  Ford Sales Analyst, Erich Merkle is here to explain.

Cut#1 ”Ford Motor Company’s U.S. sales increased 4 percent in April versus a year ago which gave us a total of 231,316 vehicles for the month.  Retail sales also grew nicely, they were up 3 percent and that gave us our best April retail sales month since 2006.” :18 sec.

Ford SUV sales totaled 65,474 vehicles last month – the best April in company history.  

Cut#2 ” Explorer sales really drove a lot of the gains, and Explorer was up 22 percent versus a year ago, so Explorer continues to do very well for us in the market place.”:09 sec.

And what about the Ford F-150?

Cut#3  “Ford’s F-150, was the only truck to earn the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick last month, and this really helped lift F-Series sales about 13 percent with over 70 thousand trucks sold.  This is the second month in a row where F-series has surpassed the 70 thousand sales mark and it’s our best performance in 11 years.” :24 sec.

Let’s talk about Ford Brand and their average transaction pricing.

Cut#4 ”Ford Brand average transaction prices for the full line up was up was up $1,500.00 compared to a year ago, and that’s $700.00 higher than the overall industry average increase.”:12 

Overall, Lincoln sales jumped 20 percent last month.

Cut#5 “But if you take a look  at where the sales are coming from, really hot right now are SUV’s, not only in more of your base brands, but also luxury SUV’s are really doing well.  and our all new Lincoln MKX saw a 94 percent gain, driving Lincoln overall brand SUV sales to a 53 percent increase over a year ago with almost 7,000 vehicles sold.” 26 sec.
