Soundbites: September 2017 Sales

Ford sales were up 8.7 Percent in September; and according to Eric Merkle, Ford sales analyst,  the F-Series Trucks were up 21.4 Percent; Transit Vans had gains of 25.4 Percent and  Lincoln SUVs posted strong gains of 10.6 Percent.

Cut#1 “It was a really good month for the industry and it was a really good month for Ford.  So if you take a look at the industry,  the industry was probably up somewhere around 2 or 3 percent and Ford was up almost 9 percent for the month with 222,248 sold.”

F-Series sales rose 21.4 percent, with a total of 82,302 trucks sold.  Merkle says it’s sales were strong across the country.

Cut#2 “We sold over 80-thousand of them in the month of September and if you look back throughout F-series history, there has only been only two other times where we’ve sold over 80-thousand F-Series in the month of September and this really has a lot to do with the product , with the new 2018 F-150 now coming out into the market and Super Duty just been performing well,  month in and month out, so it  does not come as too much of a surprise, cause F-series has been up pretty much all year long.” 29 sec.

Transit sales totaled 13,546 vehicles last month which was a 25.4 percent increase over a year ago for the van’s best September since its introduction in 2014.

Cut#3 “What was really encouraging with Transit we saw gains coming on the fleet side, because remember Transit is a big commercial vehicle for us, so we saw strong gains of almost 30 percent on the fleet side, and then we saw almost a 20 percent gain on the retail, so Transit really performed very well for us on the month. :20 sec.

Lincoln SUV performance had an increase of 10.6 percent, which includes the MKX, MKC and Navigator sales all for the month of September.

Cut#4 “It really is doing well relative to the segment, when we start taking a look at our retail share, Lincolns retail share was up just over a point compared to over a year ago.  So Lincoln is  performing well in the market place and a lot of what was driving that was the Lincoln SUV performance,  it was up 10.6 percent and we saw gains coming from MKX, MKC and Navigator, and we also saw some good gains coming from Continental again for the month of September, so Lincoln had a really nice performance for the month.”  :32 sec.
